Oscar played for seven different teams during his 17-year career, including the Cleveland Indians (pictured) and New York Yankees. Tragically, George Steinbrenner forced Oscar to cut his famous Afro when he signed with the Yankees. Oscar still produced, however, and his left-handed power stroke was ideal for the renowned short right field fence at Yankee Stadium. Oscar hit 17 home runs that season, helping the Yanks to their first American League pennant in 12 years.
