Designer–slash–illustrator. Or is it the other way around? I guess it all depends on the project. Most of my design concepts start out with pencil on paper, and often include some form of illustration. It is during this preliminary stage that my ideas begin to form on style, color, type, and composition.
Experienced. I've been designing and illustrating for a while now and have put these skills to work at Penn State since 1997. Of course, experience doesn’t always mean much. I try to approach each project with a fresh perspective and am constantly looking for inspiration, insight, and better techniques. My goal is to keep getting better at what I do.
Accessible. If you like my work and have a project you'd like to discuss, don't hesitate to contact me. It’s a thrill to see people interacting with my work in one form or another, and I love hearing when my designs generate business.
Gift Card, Sidebar Café
The Sidebar Café opened this past January in Penn State's brand new Lewis Katz law school building. In an effort to get the word out, I designed this card for FREE COFFEE. In case you were wondering, yes, it IS fun to spell words out with coffee beans.
Healthy Isn’t Scary
Penn State’s Simmons Dining Hall hosted a theme dinner this past fall entitiled ”Healthy Isn’t Scary.” As I neared completion on this illustration, I showed it to my five-year old son and asked him if he thought it was scary. He kept staring at the carrot and nodded “yes.” Hopefully the college kids weren't as frightened.
